Your My Number card can now be used as your health insurance card

Previous health insurance cards can still be used. Currently, it can only be used at medical institutions and pharmacies that are ready for operation.

1.Application for Use

In order to use your My Number Card as your health insurance card, you need to apply through Mynaportal＜外部リンク＞.

You can also easily register at the City Hall National Health Insurance Counter (No. 10) or Citizens' Division Counter (No. 2).

Necessary items

• My number card of the applicant + PIN (4-digit number) set in advance at the municipal office
• Smartphone that can read my number card

*If you forget your PIN, you will need to reset it. You can go through the procedures at the City Hall Citizens Section window (No. 2).

2.Active medical institutions and pharmacies

3.How to use at medical institutions and pharmacies

Once registered, you can visit medical institutions and pharmacies with only your My Number card.
When you place your My Number card on the card reader at the counter, the face photo information stored in the IC chip is called up, and it is possible to verify your identity. (Identity can be verified not only by facial recognition, but also by your 4-digit PIN.)
Medical institutions and pharmacies that do not have card readers will still require a health insurance card.

4.When you can start using My Number Card

You can start using the system now.
My Number Card can be used as a health insurance card.

5.Advantages of using My Number Card as a health insurance card

• You can share information about the medicines you have used with doctors, even if you are new to medical institutions.
• You can see specific health checkup information, drug information, and medical expense information on Mynaportal.
• Mynaportal simplifies the procedure for deducting medical expenses on tax returns.
• My number card can be used without renewal for 5 years. (National Health Insurance card is renewed every year)

(*) The procedure for switching insurance is still required at the city hall.
