Honcho Street
Honcho Street is a shopping and residential area in the Shimoyoshida district of Fujiyoshida which has become increasingly popular with tourists who want to take pictures of Fujiyoshida City with Mt. Fuji in the Background. Recently, many tourists come to Chureito Pagoda then walk down to Honcho, which takes about 20 minutes.
The popularity of Honcho Street has boomed in recent years thanks to the increase of various SNS services. One can enjoy cafes and shops, such as Kura House Fab Cafe, or Kissa Lemon, and Fuuto Coffee. The Nishiura area is right around the corner which has a variety of izakayas, bars, and restaurants open at night.
Please be aware of traffic in the Honcho area, which is both a residential and business district. Stepping into the street to take photos of Mt. Fuji is illegal because it blocks traffic and causes accidents. Please observe all traffic laws and the directions of crossing guard staff located at the Honcho Intersection.
The number of car accidents involving tourists in rental cars has been increasing. Car Parking is extremely limited and there are many narrow one-way streets. Please refer to the Fujiyoshida Sightseeing Map for information about parking. (Backside Shimoyoshida Nishiura Area and Parking Lots Map)
