In August 2005, president of Vista 360, Candra Day, visited Fujiyoshida to see the Yoshida Fire Festival, (yoshida no Himatsuri ‹g“c‚̉ÎÕ‚è,) and decided that it should be the centerpiece of Vistafs next festival designed to celebrate mountain cultures around the world.  Vista 360 is a small non-profit organization (NPO) based in Jackson, Wyoming (USA) that was created in 2002-03 during the gUN Year of the Mountains.h  Vistafs stated purpose it to celebrate and connect mountain cultures around the world in order to develop and support sustainable lifestyles.  The Vista website states gWe are inspired by the beauty of mountain arts and traditions and motivated to bring mountain people together to take advantage of globalization, rather than fall victim to it.h  (http://www.vista360.org/).  In 2003, Vista opened their first festival that celebrated the mountain culture if Kirgizstan by inviting many artists, musicians, and Kirgizstan locals to Jackson and holding a week-long festival.  As their second festival, Vista decided to focus on Mt. Fuji and chose Yoshidafs Fire Festival as the centerpiece.  Vistafs gHomage to Mt. Fujih festival was held in Jackson, highlighted by a re-creation of Yoshidafs Fire Festival, in June 2008. It was a huge success and continues to be a big annual event.
